Paul Hsiao, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, has been selected and awarded as "Pharmacist of the Year" by an expert panel at Drug Topics after a national poll of US pharmacists. In June 2000, Dr. Hsiao received 2000 Safety Net "The President's Healthy Future Award" in recognition for the "Implementing a Strategy to Curtail Escalating Antibiotic Resistance At a Public Teaching Hospital. Last year, Dr. Hsiao also received "Outstanding Medical Education" Award from Department of Medicine at Alameda County Medical Center. This marked the first time a pharmacist ever received such a high honor at the medical center in physician education.
Paul Hsiao, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, was invited to present "Pharmacotheapy management of Chronic Heart Failure" and "Hyperlipidemia: Why, When and How to Treat" in a Cardiology Symposium at SK Hospital, a tertiary teaching hospital, in Taipei, Taiwan from September 1 to September 3, 2000. The Symposium was sponsored by the Pharmacy department at SK Hospital. He also gave a talk in a grand round for medical staff at SKH in Hyperlipidemia. Dr. Hsiao has been participating in medicine teams at the Highland Campus in helping physicians with any drug-related problems. He also works extensively with the P&T committee in formulary management.
